Cannabidiol may seem simple at first glance, but you’ve likely heard the buzz around CBD oil. This hemp extract oil is often hailed as a miracle fix for everything from headaches to serious illnesses like multiple sclerosis. Some swear it works wonders, while others remain skeptical. Here’s a cool fact: the CBD market is booming, expected to climb past 20 billion dollars by 2024 (source: https://www.grandviewresearch.com/). If curious about what CBD actually does and why it’s making waves, dive in—there’s a surprising story behind this trendy oil that could change how you see health.

First of all – what exactly is cannabidiol? In a nutshell, it is an oil that contains a constituent of the CBD plant. Your body – on the other hand – contains cannabinoid receptors. There are reports that the oil, when used properly, acts on those receptors.

The result: your body responds to it in such a way that it relieves or even reduces pain. And if you put it that way, CBD oil is indeed anxiously close to a miracle cure.

Criticism from the medical world

However, the question arises whether CBD oil is really so effective against pain and other symptoms. There is criticism from various quarters, mainly based on the lack of completed studies.

CBD researcher and biochemist Arno Hazekamp belongs to the group of skeptics. As an independent, he states to the Algemeen Dagblad that although cannabidiol has a proven effect as a clinical aid (for example in people with anxiety disorders, schizophrenia and Davet’s syndrome), it has only a partially proven effect. The few completed studies that have been done are not always reliable or even dubious, according to Hazekamp.

However, the Office of Medicinal CBD states that there is sufficient scientific data to prove the pain-relieving effect. According to this organization, CBD oil from Cibdol, for example, is effective for pain caused by, among others, multiple sclerosis (MS), AIDS and cancer.

Possible positive effects

So – what is truth? The alleged lack of scientific results or the people who swear by using the oil as a pain reliever? So we looked at some of the scientific studies surrounding the most common reasons for use.

Chronic pain
A 2018 study reviewed studies between 1975 and March 2018 to uncover the impact of CBD oil on chronic pain. These included pain caused by cancer, fibromyalgia or neutopathic pain. Based on this, scientists concluded that CBD was useful in chronic pain management without side effects.

Cancer

In addition to research on pain caused by cancer, another party also looked at the influence of CBD oil on tumors. Research on mice showed that CBD can lead to a reduction in cancerous tumors. Humans have not yet been studied, so more research is needed in this area. Read more information on cbd oil uk at this link.

Arthritis

A 2016 study looked at the effects of CBD on rats with arthritis. The researchers saw a reduction in pain with no obvious side effects. As with the research on tumors, more research on humans is needed.

Migraine

CBD oil is also widely used by people with migraines. Scientific research surrounding its efficacy is scarce. The studies that currently exist vary in terms of results. Some argue that CBD works for migraines only in combination with THC, i.e. not alone. Others claim that both CBD and THC can lead to less acute and less intense pain in migraine.
